Unicode. The name exhumes long dead fear for many programmers, including yours truly. I am sickened and saddened by the widespread lack of support for unicode in libraries, tools and applications. It isn’t hard to implement support most of the time. The tools and functions are available but the developers are usually lazy, incompetent, ignorant or all of the above. So why is Eclipse set by default to a non-unicode encoding system.
